Underground Pipes

Linking the various tanks and pumping equipment are a number of cast iron 12 inch diameter pipes.

The picture on the left shows the pipe leading from the Pumping Station to Cinderford that would have taken the water supply for the town to the water reservoir at Haywood where it could be distributed across the town. Also visable is a small pipe leading to the Chief Engineers Home and a more modern pipe that supplied the Pumping Station own requirements.

The picture on the right shows the former pipe which it is believed supplied water north towards Mitcheldean. This has been capped and the connecting wall blocked probably when alternative supplies became available from Wigpool.

The picture on the shows a filtration box on the pipe taking water from the Pumping Station to Cinderford. The picture on the right shows the incoming pipe taking water from the collecting tank to the pumping area.

A view into a large tank on the north side of the property that seems to be connected to the new pumping engine and well head on the east side of the property. This was a major development in the first part of the 20th century when electric replaced the original steam driven pumps. The tank seems to be a deeper collecting tank than the original to which it is also connected.
